I always go there for their cakes and pies which are always great. Service was good and they offer military discounts. Atmosphere was cool. I had no complaints and a good experience.

Stopped in Boll Weevil recently for dinner with a colleague. It was a Monday night at 6:30pm and we were able to be seated straight away. The vibes are casual and comfortable which pairs perfectly with the fare. There was live music while we were there (which was pitch perfect in volume as we were still able to speak comfortably). We sat and my dining companion mentioned they have a decent number of stouts on menu. I ordered a spiced stout, which was amazing. We also ordered their fried green tomatoes, which were great. It was my first experience with fried green tomatoes and they seemed to be an elevated version with a drizzle of balsamic and a horseradish sauce to accompany. Lovely! For my main, I got the grown up grilled cheese and a cup of their corn chowder. The grilled cheese was a tasty combination of pimento cheese and applewood smoked bacon on sourdough. It was divine. The corn chowder is hearty and flavorful. The service was friendly and the prices are reasonable. Get to it!

I was traveling and happen to roll up on this spot. Nice small but quaint spot. Located near the Riverwalk in Augusta, Ga.. The food was amazing and service was awesome. They have a dessert room that will make you shout. All desserts are homemade....a little pricey but absolutely delicious desserts. The entrees are reasonably priced. They also have a bar. If you are in town this is an enjoyable place.

This is one of those places where you walk in and whisper to yourself, "I'll start eating healthier next week." Do they have healthy options? Yes. Salads and grilled chicken and veggies. But this is my review and I'm here to tell ya I am not coming to the BW to stay fit. I come here to celebrate and love life and consume sugar. As did occur this past weekend. I had family in town and Sunday mid day rolled around. Where could we go to enjoy a warm, delicious meal? And more importantly, where could I get a dessert that would leave me questioning my life choices? This is where Yelp (and some personal knowledge) come in quite handy. I also wanted downtown (less time in the backseat with my in-law's). So there we were, pulling into the parking lot (it's down the alley way just before you reach BW). I had already begun the laborious process of deciding which cake would be my coup de grâce. I glanced in (okay, I stopped on the sidewalk and peered) through the window to see what was in the display case because what they have is what you can get. But with a slight wait (it was lunch time after all), I refocused my efforts on the actually meal. I favor special menus (themes, holidays, brunch) as they are only available for a limited time. Again, Sunday so "brunch." My eyes beheld a stuffed French Toast (with cream cheese, apricot preserve, and sweet tea syrup) and my decision-making process came to a halt. The side, I learned upon ordering, was cheese grits. Of course I requested a cup of coffee and asked the source; good ole New Moon Cafe. Soon I was sipping my brew, drenching my French Toast, and stirring the grated cheese around my bowl of grits. It was a meal of balanced flavors, textures, and aromas. And then came the great tragedy of 2024. I had already partaken of breakfast mid morning and had not begun this meal at full hunger capacity. With my last bite I knew the inevitable, I would not be ordering dessert. I know they do take out. I mean you can order an entire cake if you really want to commit. But it just isn't the same. And as I walked out, I took slow steps by the display case. There, staring at me in disappointment, were the Hummingbird, Canary Lemon, and Velvet Delight (amongst the others). They didn't understand how I could leave without having polished off a slice large enough to fill a plate and weighty enough to topple over a small child. Neither could I. "Next time, next time" I whispered to them. I shall return soon to fulfill my promise.

Boll Weevil Café is one of the first places in Augusta that I ever learned about, prior to ever visiting the area. It is a cute restaurant located downtown and near the river. Their cake and cheesecake slices are very well known and recommended by many! During my year in Augusta, I dined here probably five times. My take away from my experience is that the food is not the best ever, but it is a good place to go when you are with a couple of people and you want them to have options. Every time I have been here, I have only been for lunch. Never did I order anything for dinner. I definitely think the Experience of sitting in the place is worth it and I'm not sure that I would recommend just ordering something to go. Staff are friendly, but I'm think I like sitting at the bar best!

Stopped by here for lunch stopping through town on a Saturday. We had a wonderful server, Leila, who was super sweet and told us which dishes she recommends. We're glad we listened to her because her suggestions were good. We had the Havana Chicken with a side of Cesar salad and my husband had the Southern Gent Sammich with a side of corn chowder. I liked the chicken and the corn chowder but felt the rice that came with the chicken was not good. My husband enjoyed his sandwich. Lastly we finished with a slice of key lime pie which we both really enjoyed. In summary, the chicken itself, corn chowder and key lime pie were my favorites from what we ordered. Docking a star because the rice was not good with the chicken and that was a significant part of the dish. Thank you Leila for your hospitality!

The cake that everyone recognizes... I have heard stories about this from my coworkers but haven't gone yet in the couple of years I've been coming to Augusta for work. We finally decided to try it out. Three of my group had peanut butter pie, one had the lemon cake with blueberry cheesecake as the center layer, and I had the plain lemon cake. It was so. freaking. good. We just picked up at the counter as we had already eaten dinner - the person working was super helpful in answering all of our questions. We brought the cake back to the hotel lounge to eat and the person working there said "Oh, you went to Boll Weevil!" This lasted me like 3 meals and I still didn't finish it. I will dream of this lemon cake.

Dive bar ambiance. Good service. Free Street parking or their own lot. Southern cooking with some healthy vegetarian options. I enjoyed the black bean burger with cucumber salad and asian slaw. They offer this burger 2 different ways, and with your choice of bun/bread/hoagie and choice of side. I enjoyed the house salad with vidalia dressing. Hummingbird cake was ok but not as good as i expected. The texture was more finely ground than expected; the texture of the cake reminded me of a cake mix. Frosting is delicious. Right near the riverfront park. I would dine here again.
